When bears are out of their dens (generally April to November), WildSmart publishes a weekly summary of bear activity between the Banff Park East Gate and Bow Valley Provincial Park. The summary compiles information provided by government agencies and sightings reported by the public.

The information in the bear report is intended to help the public make informed decisions about where and how to recreate based on recent wildlife movement patterns. We thereby hope to reduce the potential for negative human-wildlife interactions.

Please note that bear reports are not intended to be used as a real-time, complete record of where bears are in the Bow Valley.
